We started mayamada to let our imagination go wild. We have created a clothing line inspired by our fantasy world of Japanese television parody. Yes you heard that right, we made up our own television network!

Think Japanese TV mixed with Looney Tunes.

One of the questions we get asked most often is "what does mayamada mean?" The answer...is a mystery...or is it?

It all started with an email...

There was no grand plan really, only emails between friends. You know how it goes; one person sends an email asking to start a t-shirt business and the others reply "yeah, why not?".

We have no experience of the fashion industry or making clothes...or even graphic design. We’re engineers for crying out loud! How we got to this point is still unclear...

We were always coming up with random ideas between us and just needed a place to put them other than the margins of our notebooks. What better way to showcase random ideas than to start a clothing brand?

This way we get to let our imaginations loose while making cool tees that make you (yes you) look great. Something different that the mainstream brands that most people are wearing nowadays.

We want to mix our enthusiasm for Japanese culture with our western roots in a setting we all know and love - television!

So expect to see…well, anything really. Off-the-wall television shows starring a random (but talented) animal cast. The latest product idea to come out of our heads and whatever else makes sense in a TV world where a samurai monkey is the norm!

We’re doing this to create something everyone can enjoy and laugh with (we’ll take confused smiles too).
